i did it. i frogged katharine vest. it just didn’t work out.
yesterday i stumbled across a lovely cardigan pattern by accident, made a gauge which fitted exaclty and just started! it’s going to be the swing cardigan from vogue knitting spring/summer 2007.
i much better love this shiny cotton yarn in stockinette stich than in lace! very exciting. i hope the size will turn out ok this time, but from the measures and gauge i’m optimistic…
this is the first yarn i produced on my drop spindle! 100g corriedale in white + green.
i’m so proud and really love the white one which is a lot softer and not as overtwisted as the first (green) one… 🙂
first i wanted to ply the skeins, but now i like them as they are!
hm, any suggestions what i could knit with the yarn? at first i thought a neck warmer would be nice, but the green yarn is too scratchy to wear it round the neck…
any other ideas?!
i finished the green batt (50g) and started the next one.
to be able to wind it into a skein i needed to wet it and „block“ it. my old wine rack was very helpful for that as i don’t have a coiler. then i sprayed it with water and am now waiting for it to dry…
in the meantime i started with the white wool, which is – strangely enough – a lot easier to spin (or am i just getting better? 😉 ) and also a lot softer. strange, because it’s both supposed to be corriedale wool…
ordered a drop spindle starter kit and that is what happened so far 😉
i started to knit my first piece of clothing ever… so far only socks, skarfs, mittens, hats etc… how exciting.
apparently i didn’t pick the easiest pattern for my first try though. the katharine vest from interweaver knits, spring 2008. here are some photos of the progress. slowly but steady…
